If you have a pair of Apple AirPods that were previously owned or gifted to you, chances are they have a name associated with them that doesn’t belong to you. In this tutorial, we will show you how to change the name of your AirPods to something that is more personalized and relevant to you.
First, open the Settings app on your iPhone. Look for the grey Sagir icon and click on it. From there, select Bluetooth since your AirPods are Bluetooth earbuds. Make sure your AirPods are connected and then click on the blue “i” icon next to the name of your AirPods.
Once you click on the “i” icon, a new screen will appear with the option to “Forget This Device.” Before doing anything else, make sure that the lid of your AirPods is open and they are connected. Then, click on the arrow next to the name.
Click the “X” button to clear out the existing name and type in the new name that you want. Once you’re done, click “Done” and then the blue back button on the top left of the screen. You should now see the new name of your AirPods.
To confirm that the name has been changed, close the Settings app and open up the lid of your AirPods. The new name should now be displayed on your iPhone screen.
