If you’re a Minecraft player, you may have heard about the new axolotl mob that has recently been added to the bedrock beta and the latest java snapshot. Axolotls are small passive mobs that can be found in underground water sources. They come in five different colors, including pink, brown, gold, cyan, and blue. In this post, we’ll be sharing everything you need to know about the new mob, including where to find them, which mobs they attack, and how to breed them.
Where to Find Axolotls
As mentioned earlier, axolotls can be found in underground water sources. They are small passive mobs with 14 health points, which is equal to seven hearts. You can find them in five different colors, including pink, brown, gold, cyan, and blue.
Which Mobs Do Axolotls Attack?
Axolotls are aggressive towards other mobs, including squids, glow squids, and all varieties of fish. They can also be tempted to attack guardians, elder guardians, and drowned if fed tropical fish by the player. They deal 2 hp of damage with each attack and are especially ferocious when hunting in groups.
How to Breed Axolotls
If you want to breed axolotls, you can do so by feeding two axolotls tropical fish at the same time. You can also use buckets of tropical fish instead, and if you do, you will keep the bucket afterward. The baby axolotl will typically resemble the appearance of one of its two parents, but there is a 1 in 200 chance the baby will be blue, even if neither parent is.
It takes 20 minutes for a baby axolotl to grow into an adult, but you can speed up this time by feeding the baby tropical fish. Each fish you give the baby will cut this time by ten percent, which is two minutes per fish.
How to Keep Axolotls as Pets
If you want to keep an axolotl as your pet, you can take them back to the surface with you in a bucket by right-clicking on them with a water bucket. Alternatively, you can use a leash on them if you don’t have a bucket, but bear in mind that they cannot survive out of water for very long unless it is raining.
In Conclusion
Minecraft 1.17 is still a work in progress, so if you’re reading this post in the future, there might have been changes to the axolotl mob. However, for now, you know everything you need to know about finding, attacking, breeding, and keeping axolotls as pets. Happy gaming!
