Blocking a specific IP address or website on your computer can be useful for various reasons, such as preventing access to certain websites or stopping potentially harmful traffic from entering your network. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to block a website IP address using the Windows Firewall on your computer.
First, open the start menu and type in “Windows Firewall”. Select the Windows Defender Firewall and click on “Advanced Settings”. Then, select “Inbound Rules” on the left side and click on “New Rule”.
Select “Custom” as the rule type and click “Next”. Now, select “These IP addresses” and click on “Add”. Type in the IP address you want to block and click “OK”. Then, click “Next” and select “Block the Connection”.
Click “Next” again and keep all the checkboxes selected. Finally, give a name to the rule and click “Finish”. You can see the inbound rule that you created is now on the top of the list.
You can also customize outbound rules in the same way. Simply select “Outbound Rules” instead of “Inbound Rules” and follow the same steps as mentioned above.
Blocking IP addresses and websites on the Windows Firewall is a straightforward process that anyone can do. You can modify or delete the rules anytime you want. This feature can help you control your network traffic and keep unwanted connections out of your computer.
