If you’re a frequent driver, toll roads can become a significant expense over time. Fortunately, Apple Maps provides an easy way to avoid them. In this guide, we’ll show you how to change your settings on a per-trip basis and as a default setting.
To get started, open Maps and enter your destination. Tap Directions, and you’ll see a few options to choose from. To avoid toll roads and highways for this trip, swipe up on the bottom section and tap the Avoid options. You can turn either or both on using the slider on the right. Apple Maps will then reroute your options based on your new preferences. Keep in mind that the Fastest option might still show up with a dollar sign next to it, so you can decide if the time saved is worth the tolls you’d pay.
If you want to set this as a default for all trips, you can do so in the Maps settings. Close Maps and open Settings. Scroll down and tap Maps. Towards the bottom of the screen, tap Driving under the Directions section. You can then turn on Avoid Tolls and Highways, and it will be the default setting the next time you use Maps.
Avoiding tolls and highways on Apple Maps is a simple process that can save you money and make your trips more enjoyable. Try it out and see if it makes a difference for you. Thanks for reading!
