If you’re interested in publishing your own magazine on the iTunes Newsstand app store, you may have noticed that it can be quite expensive. However, there is an affordable way to get your magazine on the Newsstand app store. Here, we will guide you through the process of setting up your magazine on the Newsstand app store with the help of the Newstead HQ.
Before we begin, you will need to subscribe to the Apple Developer Portal, which is a prerequisite for publishing your Newsstand apps in the app store. Once you’ve subscribed, you will need to download Xcode. You can find it in the Mac App Store by searching for Xcode. With Xcode, you can run the Newsstand app project that we will provide below.
The Newstead HQ offers a Newsstand source code template that allows you to set up issues and subscriptions. Users can download your editions and issues and read them in the app. Additionally, users can swipe left and right to see all the pages of your magazine. You can publish in both PDF and HTML, making it convenient for all types of content.
When you open the Xcode project, you will see a screen with a “run” button. You will click on that to run the project in the simulator. You can choose the kind of simulator you want, such as the iPad 6.1 simulator. Once you click on “run,” the sample magazine should appear. There are two issues in the sample magazine. You can tap to download any of the issues and then tap to read them once they’ve finished downloading. You can swipe left and right to browse the magazine and tap the button to go back to all the issues.
This video provides an overview of how to get set up. In the next video of the crash course, we will show you how to configure your issues with your content for your magazine. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment, and we will be there to answer them for you.
Publishing your magazine on the Newsstand app store is now affordable and easy with the help of the Newstead HQ. With the step-by-step guide provided above, you can set up your magazine and start publishing in no time.
