Having multiple email accounts can be overwhelming as it means having to check each one of them every day to keep up with your workload. Fortunately, automatically forwarding emails from one address to another is super easy in 2020 and you can even reply to emails using a different account.
If you manage both AOL and Gmail accounts, you can forward your AOL emails to Gmail to save a step during login. To set up forwarding, log into Gmail and click on the kebab icon on the right to access quick settings. Select “See all settings” and go to the “Accounts and Import” tab. In the “Check mail from other accounts” section, click on “Add a mail account,” enter your AOL email address, and click “Next.”
Then select “Link accounts with Gmailify” and click “Next” again. Enter your AOL password when prompted and finally agree to AOL’s terms. You can now manage your incoming AOL emails using your Gmail inbox. Your AOL contacts and existing emails can also be imported into Gmail.
To do this, you’ll need to generate an app password for AOL. Head over to mail.aol.com and sign in. Click on “Options” in the upper right corner of your screen, then select “Account Info” from the drop-down menu. In the left panel, select “Account Security” and then click on “Generate app password.”
In the “Select your app” drop-down menu, select “Other app,” enter “Gmail” in the custom name field, and click the “Generate” button. Copy the app password and save it for later. Head back to Gmail and navigate to the “Accounts and Import” tab. In the “Import mail and contacts” section, click on “Import mail and contacts,” enter your AOL email address, and click “Continue.”
Then enter the app password you copied earlier in the password field, select the import options for your AOL account, and click the “Start import” button. This import process can take some serious time, so be patient. Once the process is complete, new messages will be forwarded to your Gmail daily under the [email protected] label in the left pane.
Managing multiple email accounts can be a headache, but with the right tools and knowledge, it can be done with ease. By following the steps above, you can forward your AOL emails to Gmail and manage them all in one inbox.
