Creating a copyright stamp is a quick and easy process using GIMP, a free program similar to Photoshop. First, make sure you have the paths and layers tabs activated. If not, simply click on the tab add and select them.
Next, create a new image with a size of 1600 x 1600 pixels. To center your stamp, add guides by going to Image > Guides > Percent. Set both the horizontal and vertical guides to 50%.
To create the stamp itself, select the Ellipse Tool and make a circle in the center of the image. Ctrl + Shift will make the shape perfect. To turn the circle into a path, select it and then “Select to Path.” Create a new layer and add your desired text in a bold font.
For the copyright symbol, create another new layer and use the text tool again to type “Copyright” at the bottom. Right-click on the top text layer, select “Text Along Path,” and then “Add to Selection” in the Paths tab. Create another new layer and fill it with your desired color. Repeat the same process for the copyright text, but reverse it with the flipping tool.
To merge all visible layers, right-click on one of the layers and select “Merge Visible Layers.” Finally, remove all guides and export your stamp as a PNG to remove the white background.
With a little practice, you’ll be able to create your own copyright stamp in no time using GIMP.
