If you’re looking to set up a Google Home Mini, it doesn’t matter if you’re using an iPhone or an Android phone – the process is very similar. The first thing you want to do is give your Google Home Mini power by plugging it in and waiting for about 20 seconds. While you wait, head over to your app store and download the Google Home app.
Once you launch the app, you’ll need to sign in with your Gmail account. After that, click “Get Started” and click on “Set Up New Device.” If this is your first device, click on the plus sign to create another home. Nickname your home, put in your home address (if you want), and click “Next.” If you don’t put in a home address, you’ll receive a warning that responses about weather, traffic, and other things may be inaccurate, but it should work fine anyway.
Next, click “Continue” and let the app find your device. Once it’s found, click “Next” and connect to your Wi-Fi. If you’re already connected, click “Next” and let the devices start talking to each other. After they’re connected, select whether or not you want to activate voice match. This is optional, but it’s recommended if you’re the only one who will be using the device.
After that, you’ll be asked to select a default music service. If you don’t pay for any music services, you can select Google Play Music. You’ll also be asked about other services like video and TV, but you can skip those if you don’t want to link them. You can add a payment method if you want to shop on Google, but that’s not necessary for setting up your device.
Finally, you’ll be prompted to test your Google Assistant by asking a question like “What time is it?” Once you’re up and running, you can ask your Google Assistant anything you want and it’ll do its best to help you out.
