Are you looking to upload long workshop items or guides to Steam? If so, you’re in luck! In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process of editing and uploading long images to Steam so that they display properly in the workshop showcase or guide showcase.
First, you’ll need to navigate to the place where you can upload artwork on Steam. This is the same place where you’ll upload your long images. Note that you’ll need to use a modern browser like Chrome or Firefox, not the Steam client.
Next, open up a new tab and head to hext.it or click the second link in the description down below. This is where you’ll be modifying your gifs to make sure they’re uploaded and displayed properly on Steam.
Once you’ve opened your gif in hext.it, use the slider to drag yourself all the way down to the very bottom of the page. Click on the second-to-last plus sign and change the number from 3b to 21. Then, hit save as and either save and replace the gif you already have on your PC or name it something new.
Repeat this process for every image you want to display as long in the workshop or guide showcase.
Once you’ve finished editing all of your images, head back to the artwork uploading page on Steam. Copy one of the two lines of text from the description down below, depending on whether you want to upload long workshop pictures or long guide pictures.
Hit ctrl shift i to open up the console, then paste in the line of text you copied. You’ll need to do this for every image you’re uploading.
Enter a title for your image, choose a file, select the first gif, and certify that you created it. Then, click save and continue. Repeat this process for all of your remaining images.
Once you’ve finished uploading all of your images, head back to your profile and click edit next to one of the showcases you already have selected. Scroll down and find the workshop showcase, then select all of the images you want to display.
Finally, scroll down to the bottom and click save. Your long images should now be displaying properly in the workshop or guide showcase!
If your images are out of sync, simply hit f5 to refresh the page and they should start playing at the same time.
