Do you have a lot of media on iTunes and find that it’s taking up too much space on your computer’s hard drive? If so, you may want to consider backing up your iTunes library to an external hard drive. By doing this, you can free up space on your computer’s hard drive and keep your media safe in case anything happens to your computer. In this article, we’ll show you how to use an external hard drive for iTunes.
First, make sure you have an external hard drive that is plugged into your computer. Next, open iTunes and click on the iTunes tab in the top corner. From there, go down to preferences and make sure you’re on the advanced tab.
On this tab, you’ll see the location of your iTunes media folder. By default, it’s on your computer’s hard drive, but we can change this so that it’s on the external hard drive. To do this, click on the “Change” button and locate your external hard drive.
Once you’ve found your external hard drive, create a new folder called “iTunes” and then create another folder within that called “iTunes Media”. This is where your media will be stored. Once you’ve done this, click “Open” and then hit “OK” at the bottom.
That’s it! You’ve successfully changed the location of your iTunes media folder to an external hard drive. Now, all of your media will be stored on the external hard drive instead of your computer’s hard drive.
