Summer has arrived with Wave One of the Summer updates in Animal Crossing New Horizons, bringing exciting new features to the game. One such feature is swimming. If you’re wondering how to swim in Animal Crossing New Horizons, read on for a step-by-step guide.
Firstly, you need to download the update and patch it in by pressing the plus button and checking for updates. After downloading the update, you’ll receive a letter in the game telling you that you can swim and gifting you a snorkel and mask. Note that these won’t let you swim; you need a wetsuit. You can exchange NIC miles at the Knux top to get your first wetsuit, but you’ll have to wait a day to pick it up. Alternatively, head over to the shop, go into the cabinet, and buy your first wetsuit, a horizontal striped one that costs 3,000 bells.
After buying the wetsuit, Timmy or Tommy will give you a mini-tutorial on how to use it. To access the wetsuit, you need to go to your inventory and not your wardrobe. You can remove your shoes or socks from the wardrobe if you want, but it’s not necessary. Swim to the beach or a nearby rock, jump in with the A button, and dive with the Y button. You can search for sea creatures underwater by swimming into them.
You might find that you can’t move around quickly in the water at first, but if you press and hold the A button, you can swim quicker. When you see bubbles, press the Y button to dive and pick up the sea creatures. Note that there’s an outer edge to how far you can go, and you’ll see a net beyond which you can’t swim. To get out of the water, swim to the beach; you can’t get out through the rocks.
Once you’ve gathered your sea creatures, take them over to Blathers and donate them. As soon as you give him the first one, he’ll accept donations for sea creatures. And that’s all you need to know to start swimming in Animal Crossing New Horizons!
So, get your wetsuit, jump into the water, and explore the sea for exciting creatures. Don’t forget to donate them to Blathers and enjoy the new summer update.
