If you have just purchased a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and are wondering how to set it up, you are in the right place. In this guide, we will take you through the process step-by-step, so you can begin using your watch in no time.
The first thing you need to do is turn your watch on. Press and hold the power button/home button on the side of the watch until the Samsung logo appears. Once the watch is on, head to the app store on your phone and download the Galaxy Wearable app. The app icon looks like a galaxy.
If you previously owned a different Galaxy Watch, and already have the Galaxy Wearable app, you can simply open the app, tap on the three lines in the top left corner, and then select “Add new device.”
If you are setting up the app for the first time, open the app and tap “Start.” The app will begin scanning for devices, so give it a few seconds. Once your watch appears on the screen, tap on it. Check the number on your watch to ensure it matches the number on the app, and then tap “Confirm.”
You will then be asked to review and agree to the optional diagnostic review. After that, you can link your Galaxy Watch 4 plug-in with your watch. You will be prompted to allow the plug-in to access your phone’s contacts, make and manage phone calls, access your calendar, phone call logs, photos, media, and files, and send and view SMS text messages. You can choose to allow or deny access for each of these features.
Next, you will be asked to read and agree to Google’s terms of service. You can uncheck any optional features and still continue with the setup. Once you have reviewed and agreed to everything, tap “Continue.”
Your watch will now begin to get ready, which may take a few minutes. You can choose to link your Google account to your watch to get the most out of your new device. If you choose to link your account, select your Google account and continue. If not, you can skip this step.
Once you have linked your account (or skipped this step), copy your Google accounts to your watch. You will then be prompted to verify your identity using your PIN, password, or fingerprint. If you have a backup of a previous watch, you can choose to restore your watch from the backup to make setup easier. If not, you can skip this step.
Finally, your watch will complete setup and you will be ready to use it. Take a tour of your watch by tapping on “Start” and swiping down from the top of the screen to open the quick panel. You can also tap the home button to go back to the watch face from any screen.
